The quality of the offerings was showcased in the Great Lakes Food Trail over the weekend.

The team at the Old Inn Road Vineyard couldn’t be happier, although 2018/19 was hot and dry again, vintage 2019 at Old Inn Road was outstanding.

The new Verdelho was ready for the April Food Trail.

The wine is pale lime green in colour, and the 2019 Old Inn Road Verdelho offers generous aromas of lychee, melon and white peach.

The palate shows a lovely citrus flesh texture with excellent persistence and a long finish.

This beautifully fresh Verdelho is best enjoyed young with fresh seafood or your favourite spicy dish.

At the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show which is far is more than a forum for wines that fall outside the mainstream.

The organisers encourage cutting-edge judging procedures and provide a host of social and educational events that promote knowledge sharing and the ferment of ideas.

This event provides industry professionals and exhibitors the opportunity to taste every single entry in the show as a way of benchmarking the scene across Australia and New Zealand.

Emma Yeo, who is a spokesperson for the Great Lakes Wine Trail told News Of The Area, “Old Inn Road’s 2018 Chambourcin was awarded a bronze medal in the Rosé class and but for the lack of 1 point would have been a silver, this is a beautifully dry French style Rosé that stands on its own in any crowd.”

The food trail showcased beautiful pasture raised Australian White Sheep on Yeo Farm up close.

“For the kids there were four gorgeous poddy lambs that will able to be petted called Roger, Judy, Geppette and Barbara,” she said.

The farm gate and cellar door offers much in the regions of Port Stephens and the Myall Coast.

Next time you are on the road and see a sign stop and you may just tantalise your taste buds with some of the best our regional producers have crafted.
