DON’T be surprised to see Census workers still pounding the pavements over the next few weeks.

It’s all part of the ongoing program to ensure every person is counted and reassured that the Census is safe.

The Australian Signals Directorate is now heading an investigation into the cyber attack and hardware failure on Tuesday 9 August, which resulted in the Census website being offline for more than 40 hours.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said, “Which heads roll, where and when, will be determined once the review is complete.”

Australian Bureau of Statistics boss David Kalisch described the event as challenging but said the system was safe and secure and data would continue to be protected.

In the run up to Census night, many residents in the Myall Coast area were also confused by the media campaign which claimed they would receive their code for the online service in the mail.

“This is a drop off area,” a spokesperson for the ABS told News Of The Area.

In the week leading up to Census Night nearly 4 thousand homes were door knocked in the areas of Hawks Nest, Tea Gardens, Pindimar, Bundabah and North Arm Cove.

Field officers reported a very positive response from householders eager to do their bit to ensure they were counted.
