(Photo Jewell Drury, News Of The Area) LATEST: From the owners. Well all things considered we have picked ourselves up quickly and are doing what we can with what little we have exceedingly well! Public support and offers of assistance has been overwhelming. We feel truly blessed to have just a wonderful network of friends and understanding customers. All our staff are still working – they just may be being redeployed for different things. Eg Kitchen team helping out brewers etc We have come a long way in 4 days. But there is a way to go as we plan and hope to start rebuilding quickly. On sunday we commenced offering wine tasting, wine sales and takeaway beer. Today we have started offering service back to our international tourism customers. And we are really hoping that by this weekend we may be able to pour our first beer (from a portable system) and offer some simple food. We will know for sure tomorrow and will update everyone via social. The best thing anyone can do to help us is visit us and buy some beer or wine! Thankfully the brewery operation was not affected and so we can keep brewing! And we r still running brewery tours Thanku and we cant wait to move forward and build an even better murrays experience! EARLIER: Emergency Services were called to Port Stephens Winery and Murrays Brewery, at Bob’s Farm Port Stephens, in the early hours of this morning (14 October 2016) after a fire swept through severely damaging one of its buildings, the Cellar Door. The fire has affected the area where functions and wine tasting occur. This building has been completely gutted by the fire. Jane Clark, General Manager of the Brewery made comment on behalf of Murray Howe the owner. Ms Clark told Bay News Of The Area, “There has been a fire today at Murrays Brewery affecting our cellar door. Its too early for us to say much except importantly nobody was injured.” She told us, “It is far too early to comment as the area needs to be assessed. We are working with emergency services and police to assist them the best we can.” Ms Clark said the fire was under control and that the brewery was not trading today at its Bobs Farm location. Fire Services from all over the area assisted in bringing the blaze under control. Anna Bay, Soldiers Point, Fingal Bay and Nelson Bay Fire and Rescue. Even Medowie RFS were at the scene. Although, Mr Howe is very positive on a quick ‘bounce back’ to get everything operating as normal again soon. The cause of the blaze is unknown at present and Police and fire services remain on site. and are investigating the incident. News Of The Area will be talking with Police on the matter shortly.
