Artworks on display explore the complexities of human nature and human relationships with bright, bold, figurative, and whimsical works on canvas.

Munki told News Of The Area that she normally keeps her art to herself.

“I never really thought, or think, of myself as a painter, because I’m more of a musician, and I’m also into film making.

“Painting is a way for me to put how I’m feeling into words, because I find it hard to find words to express myself.

“I just find it easier to paint images.

“So welcome to the inside of my mind,” she said.

Munki has started to display her works of art and merchandise at the Galleria in Macksville.

“This has reignited my passion for painting,” she said.

“When I paint it’s kind of like a dance, I paint to music.

“I paint in a very rhythmic way to the beat.

“I don’t really know what the paintings mean when I paint them, they just magically blurb out of my hands,” said Munki.

The exhibition was followed by an afternoon of music, children’s activities, and community connections.

Fitzroy Lee, a well-loved local reggae artist said, “I love these gigs, it’s a good profile to share my art with the community, and make songs fun.”

Singer/songwriter Nicholas, aka Phortah, said his music was an “ambient, textural, groovy collection of magical tunes”.

Attendee Karrie Lannistrom said, “I had so much fun, (the) great artwork (was) beautifully presented, lovely music, friendly people.

“I even got up and danced (shuffled) to the reggae with my walking stick.

“The pain in my legs afterwards was well worth it.

“Thanks for the fun times.”

The Munki exhibition will continue until 10 October or you can view her artworks and merchandise @munkiart.

Upcoming exhibitions and activities at the Phoenix Gallery include a Spring School Holiday Programs for ages 12 – 24.
