SUNDAY, 30 November was the last day for a number of moustaches in Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest as the owners had undertaken a Movember challenge and for 30 days went without shaving as a show of support for friends and residents who have suffered Prostate Cancer.

The day started with an enthusiastic Car Boot Sale proudly sponsored by the Myall Coast News with coordinator, Jim Taylor saying, “We raised several hundred dollars purely from the generous donations from people attending the Car Boot Sale and it was wonderful to be a part of this community support.”

At the Movember Party held at Benchmark on Booner, the wholehearted support of local businesses and residents allowed three raffles each with prizes for six lucky winners.

Children were also rewarded for their attendance by being encouraged to enter an ice-cream eating competition.

Rick Wraight conducted a series of spirited and humorous auctions for items ranging from vouchers from local businesses to a 170cm composite photo canvas print achieving in excess of $2000.00 for the auctioned goods.

Candice Anderson, representing Trans-Tasman Radio Oncology Group (TROG), was delighted by the high spirits of our community and said, “I assure all patrons of the Movember Party that funds raised today will be directed to Prostate Cancer research at TROG.”

“As Publicity Officer for P.S.A., I would like to thank all the wonderful supporters who have helped P.S.A. raise awareness of Prostate Cancer in our community.”

An amount in excess of $12000.00 has been raised by Lady Bowlers, Vet Golfers and P.S.A., across two months, for Oncology.
