The 16th annual love-in for everything with an engine, attracted cars and bikes from 50 clubs around the State.
“These cars are like art,” said Hot Rod enthusiast Robert Kemp from Port Macquarie.

His powder blue beauty, took six years to build, made up of various vehicles with a chassis from a 1927 Chrysler, as well as parts of a 1940 Chev and an A Model pickup.

For car lover Ronnie Paton from Johns River near Taree, his passion for motor vehicles is a family affair.

“It’s in the DNA,” Ronnie said.

Tony Oates owns a 1959 MK1 Healy Sprite.

“It took me seven years to get it to this, it was in the panel beater for four and a half years,” Tony laughed.

More than $40,000 later Tony is very philosophical about his love for his car, “My wife looks at it as therapy, she knows where I am.”

Tony belongs to the Rough Red Car Club from Baulkham Hills in Sydney’s north west and travelled up to Hawks Nest with members of his family.

Gary Mead’s Ford GT 40, drew plenty of attention, the car just 40 inches off the ground.

“When they were built in 1966 they went up against Ferraris and they got one, two and three at Le Mans three years straight,” Gary said.

“A real one of these is worth about $2.5 million to $5 million, this replica is around $200,00.”

And whether it be visiting Motorfest enthusiasts or the locals, the day is very much a family affair and a great fundraiser for local not-for-profit organisations including the local Clinic Bus, Rural Fire Service and Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club.

As a sponsor of the Motorfest, the Myall Coast News Of The Area will update you over the next few weeks on the prize winners and the amount raised for the local community.

One things for sure, records were certainly broken last Saturday and the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Motor Club will be back to do all all again next year, Motorfest 2019 set down for Saturday 9 March.
