THE sun shone down, the chrome shined and they came in droves to the annual Motorfest gathering in Hawks Nest last weekend.

More than 350 vehicles, from vintage to classic, from sports to cycles and everything in between could be found at the Myall Park Oval.

Enthusiasts and visitors came from all over the State, Motorfest attracting members from 45 clubs.

“I love Hawks Nest, it’s great to come back to,” Daniel Mead said.

Daniel and his son Riley had two Minis to show off including a Ute imported for England.

For local Jason Riley, restoring vehicles is both a passion and a business.

At first glance his Ute looked like it had seen better days but you needed to take a closer look.

“It came from out west and we put the truck body onto a late model chassis, all underneath is restored and the outside is protected in a lanolin product,” said Jason.

From a rusty Ute to the blinding shine of a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle.

“We’re part of the Central Coast Chapter of the Gold Wing Association,” Michael Howard told News Of The Area.

His standard bike comes with plenty of bells and whistles, heated seats, cruise control, stereo and the capabilities to tow a camper

Newcomers to town Jacinta and Gianfranco Verde were very impressed with a unique hearse.

“I’ll hire it for her for the day,” Gianfranco joked.

The happy couple has just moved into Palm Lakes Resort and loving their new home and town.

“Its got a beautiful feel about it, everyone is so friendly.”

Also more than happy were the organisers from the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Motor Club who worked tirelessly in the run up to the event.

“We are very, very pleased,” Club President Juergen Seil said.

All profits raised go to not for profit organisations such as the local Surf Club, NSW Rural Fire Service and local clinic bus.
