A representative from Port Stephens Council told News Of The Area, “Some programs are definitely based around literacy such as special storytimes, Hogwarts Happenings and Book Nooks. “Others are for information and entertainment purposes to encourage families to come to the library, such as Vesta Kids Disco, The Reptile Man and Rock Pool Rambles. “With some holidays programs such as Rock Pool Rambles, and The Reptile Man, library staff will prepare displays of books and other resources related to the themes, to encourage children to borrow items and continue to expand their knowledge. ‘Port Stephens Library engages a variety of external presenters and aims to set prices that are affordable for families. “While we try to cost recover our presenter fees, the library will at times cover some of the costs. “We also run programs facilitated by library staff that are free of charge for families.” By Marian SAMPSON While many of us think about Laced Monitors walking around in the bush they are also great swimmers.
