On Friday 17 July Monica went to Eastern Creek, Sydney to compete at the NSW Primary School Sports Association Cross Country Event and received a medal for the Cross Country Para-Athlete 2015 event and now a place at the Nationals.

Donning her Athletics NSW jumper and her medal for her state win, Monica proudly stood in front of her peers at assembly and was congratulated and now is in preparation.

On Friday 28 August, a School Sports Association Combined Cross Country National event will be held in Melbourne.

Monica will fly down to the event with her parents and her younger sister.

When Myall Coast News spoke to Monica about her running, she replied, “I never stop running.”

“Dad told me to keep going as I have to run up to two kilometres,” she said.

“I like running and I have done a lot of running races now.”

Monica is well supported by her peers, family and teachers and the principal, Joanne Trotter.

There is a fundraising effort being organised to help Monica and her family with the expenses of participating in Melbourne and if anyone would like to contribute, please contact the school on 4997 4189.

Raffle tickets are available to purchase at the school or at Tea Gardens at Jeffs Quality Meats.
