MidCoast Water will be out and about in the community next week as part of National Water Week aim to raise awareness about the importance of water in our daily lives.

National Water week is dedicated to raising community awareness about current and future water issues and to encourage the community to take action to protect our vital water sources.

“As a community we are particularly fortunate to have good quality water and a reliable supply of drinking water, however we are always mindful of ensuring our practices are sustainable to ensure future generations will also have an ability to meet their water needs,” acting general manager  Brendan Guiney explained.

As part of local Water Week celebrations MidCoast Water has been opening the doors at water treatment plants during October, which has allowed members of the community a chance to learn more about their water supply

The Bootawa Water Treatment Plant will open to the public at 9.30am this Sunday, 18 October.

The Tea Gardens Water Treatment Plant will be open on Thursday 22 October for interested members of the public to inspect.

Bookings for all tours are essential as numbers are limited. Bookings can be made by calling 6592 4813.

MidCoast Water’s mascot, Whizzy the Waterdrop, is visiting preschools and community events as part of the Water Week program.  He is also entertaining children at library storytime events across the region.

Primary school students have been busy with colouring-in competitions, with more than1000 entries received from across the service area.
