Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE The meeting, organised by the Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce and Tourism touched on a number of subjects including the Myall River Festival and ways MidCoast Council could help local business in various areas. The Economic Development Team was led by Robyn Brennan who spoke at length in regards to the Council’s initiative,‘Vibrant Spaces’. “There are five simple steps to implementing Vibrant Spaces, which is all about businesses using the footpath outside their premises to welcome people to the street and encourage them to linger,” Robyn Brennan said. “We’ve freed up the ability for businesses to engage people by using the footpath, it’s now up to businesses owners to be proactive,” Robyn said. Stuart Sinclair, Principal of Ray White Real Estate was enthusiastic about the initiative. “I’ll embrace it and get it moving,” Stuart said. “It’s fantastic that it uses a common sense approach.” Other issues raised at the meeting included the hazards caused by bicycles using the footpath and parking issues, especially along the Tea Gardens riverfront. The MidCoast Economic Development team also wanted to make known that they are available to help businesses be pointed in the right direction when seeking Government funding or grants. Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce, President Graham Lang wants workshops to help navigate, grow and development small businesses, a move that was welcomed by the MidCoast team. Also raised was the controversial campaign surrounding the branding of the LGA, ‘Barrington Coast’. While Councillors voted in favour last Wednesday, by Thursday a rescission motion had been received, which means the Destination ‘Barrington Coast’ is still up in the air, until the motion has been dealt with at another Council meeting on Wednesday 22 August.
