The formation of MidCoast Council is being followed by the region’s business chambers with plans underway to establish the MidCoast Chamber of Commerce.

Business chambers from Bulahdelah, the Myall Coast, Gloucester, Forster and the Manning Valley have shown their support for establishing the combined chamber.

NSW Business Chamber Regional Manager Kellon Beard said the MidCoast Chamber will benefit businesses throughout the region.

“It will give greater representation to all the chambers in the MidCoast LGA within the new council,” he said.

“All chambers will be represented by members, so it will be representative of all businesses right across the MidCoast region.”

Whilst each of the chambers will still operate within their communities, Mr Beard said the MidCoast Chamber would further support the region’s economic development.

“We’re basically merging resources and giving a collective voice to the community of the MidCoast region,” he said.

“Smaller chambers will benefit because they will not just be going to council or state members on their own, they will be going with the collective voice of all the chambers in the area.”

Bulahdelah Chamber of Commerce President John Sahyoun said the combined chamber will result in new opportunities.

“We will be able to achieve bigger outcomes for our members and improved economies of scale,” he said.

“This will certainly give our local chamber a bigger voice.”

Representatives from the region’s chambers have met several times and are currently developing a constitution.

Mr Beard told News Of The Area the MidCoast Chamber will be established early in the new year with an expected launch in February.
