Upper Myall Roadwork Construction works on Upper Myall Road are complete improving, reconstructing and sealing approximately 1550m of gravel road. The road was widened and drainage was improved. If no or insufficient rainfall eventuates, we are very likely moving to Level 4 Restrictions (no outdoor water use) by the third week in September, or early October. Myall Quays Residents have reported dead fish in the Myall Quays “lake”. Council and the EPA have been notified and is being investigated and cleaned up. This has happened at least 3 times in the past. It may or may not be a natural phenomenon. Fish kills are often the first visible signs of environmental stress and are usually investigated as a matter of urgency by environmental agencies to determine the cause of the kill. Many fish species have a relatively low tolerance of variations in environmental conditions. Dry conditions in the catchment coupled with the rain in the last few days has resulted in altered salinity levels in the lake as incoming sea tides mix with outgoing freshwater’s of river systems. Yalinbah Street Council has conducted an internal investigation at the intersection of Myall and Yalinbah Street after a motor vehicle accident insurance claim was submitted requesting reimbursement on the basis that the intersection wasn’t sufficiently signposted. There is an existing Give Way sign on the southern leg of Yalinbah Street. Council will install a Give Way sign on the northern leg. Disabled Parking An Accessible Parking Space will be installed on the northern side of Marine Drive, Tea Gardens in the first 90 degree angle car park in front of the Boatshed. The proposed site is situated on an even grade sealed section of pavement that finishes flush with a shared concrete walkway that runs adjacent to the Boat Shed Restaurant. This will allow people with mobility concerns easier access to the restaurant or nearby public facilities.
