Michael Harvey, artist from Hawks Nest is running tactile art lessons FEATURED Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest by NOTA - January 13, 2015 Those interested in trying their hand at texture painting can do so at a set of new classes being run by Hawks Nest resident Michael Harvey. The Galleries in the Gardens artist will be giving three art classes this month on texture painting using impasto paste, modelling clay, collage and other ‘found items’ for texture. “I’m very much attracted to texture painting’s three dimensional look. This style of painting presents a slightly more contemporary look to the artwork,” Mr Harvey explained. Mr Harvey is an experienced teacher and was judged the best modern contemporary artist winner at the Three Village Art Festival in Paterson last year. The classes will be held over three, three hour sessions, on 19th, 20th and 22nd January at St Stephen’s Parish Centre in Witt Street, Tea Gardens. Students can chose between a morning session or an afternoon session. Pre-registration will take place today, January 15, from 9am until 10am at the Parish Centre. Numbers for each class will be limited, so bookings are essential. The class is open to adults and children over the age of 8. All the texture, impasto, modelling clay, collage and other ‘found’ items will be provided. “People just need to turn up with their canvas, a few brushes and a few paints.” For more information call Mr Harvey on 0430 233 947.
