The awards recognise excellence across all sectors of the accounting industry and acknowledge the profession’s most senior ranks through to its rising stars.

Megan has been honoured in the Partner of the Year category in recognition of her work with Prosperity Advisers Group.

“I was humbled to receive this recognition amongst my industry peers,” Megan said.

“The award recognises my commitment to my client and business relationships as well as my drive for our business to continue to innovate and adopt technological change to stay at the forefront of our profession.”

Megan, a former Bulahdelah Central School Captain, said she was attracted to a career in accounting through the opportunity to work full-time while studying part-time at university and furthering her education.

“I was fortunate to start working with Prosperity a week after my last HSC exam,” she said.

“I didn’t know anything about Prosperity when I joined the company, but soon learned that it is an organisation where hard work and outcomes are recognised irrespective of age and gender.”

Now an experienced Chartered Accountant who leads the firm’s Tax Business Advisory team across three offices, Megan said she was offered the opportunity to become an equity partner at just 26 years of age.

“I am one of 13 shareholders in the business and we have 150 staff across Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle offices,” she said.

Megan told News Of The Area the experiences she gained growing up in Markwell and completing her school education at Bulahdelah laid the foundations for her successful career.

“The values of a strong work ethic, getting involved in extracurricular activities and recognising the importance of relationships were embedded in my thinking from an early age. These have been paramount to my career success,” she said.
