“Our group has a desire to have continued, capable residents and ratepayers representing the people in the community, as well as a desire to see a strong and thriving MidCoast region,” Luke said.

The Local Independents believe that, if elected, they could effectively and sustainably improve the MidCoast.

“We would love to see an effective and sustainable response in regards to assisting community members affected by natural disasters.

“Alongside this, we believe in Increased communication to those already impacted by natural disasters to ensure information is updated regularly and easily accessible,” Luke said.

The Local Independents continue to see the core areas of local government, as reflected by community feedback, as roads, rates and rubbish.

“When these core elements are at effective and efficient levels, other areas are also constructively impacted.

“Additionally, we would like to implement a strategy for safety and wellbeing of women and children facing domestic violence and homelessness, including adequate emergency housing and ongoing food assistance,” Luke said.
