Rotary’s annual Medowie Christmas Carols, held at Ferodale Oval in Medowie on Friday night, was a resounding success.
Light rain earlier in the evening did not deter the crowds with well over 1000 people in attendance.

School groups provided much of the entertainment, along with soloist Miss Laura Yeomans, and a special Christmas message from the Overflow Church’s Pastor David Deal.
President of the Rotary Club, Mr Geoffrey Hamilton, with his team of volunteers, did a wonderful job of coordinating the event.
Mr Hamilton told Medowie News Of The Area, “It’s been a wonderful evening, definitely a success.”
Locals who love listening, and singing along to, traditional carols were not disappointed with the community singing of favourites such as Away in a Manger.
With all the singing, dancing, and instrument playing from the school students, it is obvious how hard the school teachers in the Medowie community work.
For each act, they were standing at the front of the stage, encouraging their young students, and behind the scenes organising their young charges.
Of course, a Medowie Christmas Carols would not be complete without Santa Claus arriving on a Fire Truck with lights blazing.
Children, young and old, swamped Santa for a greeting and a packet of lollies!
It is the work and effort of so many volunteers that make this event possible, including Rotary Club members, parking attendants, food and coffee van servers, St John Ambulance First Aid Officers, school teachers giving up their evening, the MC host Mr Andrew Ratcliffe, Medowie Rural Fire Brigade, and the many other individuals and those from groups who band together to make this an enjoyable night for the Medowie locals, especially the young children.
