DUST off your driving gloves, adjust your hats, and rev the engines.

Medowie’s Annual Car Show is this weekend, Sunday 28 May starting at 10.00am.

Held at the Bull ‘n’ Bush Hotel, the show welcomes all types of cars, vintage, classic, hot rods and more.

With free entry, car clubs from around the area are welcome to bring their vehicles.

Entertainment for the crowds is supplied with two bands playing, Rave On and Jumpin’ Jukebox.

News Of The Area caught up with Medowie resident Mr Brian Knox to discuss his entry in this year’s Medowie car show.

Mr Knox is a seasoned restorer, and two of his current beauties include a 1959 Ford Fairlane in the original red and white and the 1960 Ford F100 Fairlane Galaxy pick-up truck.

Both have been restored off the chassis.

When asked what he found so satisfying about doing up cars, and Mr Knox said, “I’ve liked wheels all my life.”

“I needed a hobby, something I enjoyed doing.”

Showing his larrikin sense of humour, Mr Knox added, “I could be down at the pub drinking and gambling, but I figure this (restoring cars) is a better gamble and it keeps me out of my wife’s hair.”

Mr Knox is a regular attender at the car show, and attendees might be treated to the sound of his car’s novelty horns or the Kenworth truck horn taken from one of his trucks from when he was a truck driver.

Mr Knox is proud to point out that he does all the restoring himself from panel beating, spray work, conversions from left-hand to right-hand drive, and everything in between.

He says, “It’s not a cheque-book restoration, it’s all my own work.”

Asked what he likes about restoring cars and going to car shows, Mr Knox’s daughter, Ms Cheren Hall, piped in saying, “He is addicted to cars.”

“As soon as he fixes up one, he gets another to restore.”
