As expected, Chairman of the Medowie Sports and Community Club, Craig Baumann, was thrilled about this long awaited announcement.

“The MSCC will be a fantastic community facility for everyone of whatever age in Medowie and it will be a true family facility run for and by all who call Medowie home,” Mr Baumann told News Of The Area.

“Once a successful tender is chosen, the Committee will invite all residents to join their Club.”

“A Club that will cater to their needs, those of their children and grandchildren for many years to come,” he said.

“This has been a long time coming but soon it will become a reality thanks to the great support of our Port Stephens Council Councillors,” he added.

Port Stephens Council Deputy Mayor, Councillor Chris Doohan, has been a driving force of the Club for the past ten years.

“I am extremely satisfied to hit this milestone, and I’m hopeful that physical work will commence this year,” Cr Doohan told News Of The Area.

“It’s important to me that this building and supporting infrastructure is built within budget and as soon as practical.”

“This will be a tremendous asset for Medowie, and I truly hope that the construction of this Club brings jobs and economic benefits for our town,” he said.

“I’m sure it will.”
