This past weekend, with the help of the Bull ‘n’ Bush hotel giving access to their front room, the Club called on the community to donate goods to help bushfire affected victims of Taree, Old Bar, and Coffs Harbour.”

President Mr John Tunbridge told News Of The Area, “We are doing this bushfire appeal to help our northern neighbours as they go through this horrific time.”

“We are after donations of toys, food, personal hygiene items, linen, kitchenware, and pet care items.”

Member Ms Jan Dobbie told News Of The Area, “As a Club we are about service, so we decided rather than raise money, we would look to facilitate the donation of goods.”

“Right now the victims are in emergency accommodation but when the people move into their own homes, they will need goods, such as kitchenware, linen, and other items.”

“This will be a second wave of things that people need.”

Mr Tunbridge also said, “We would like to give a huge thanks to Kennard’s Hire at Heatherbrae who have donated a two-tonne truck to transport all the donated goods to those in need.”

“The Bull ‘n’ Bush have opened up their front room to collect donations.”

“Our Club would really like to thank the teachers and students of Wirreanda Public School for their generous contribution to our Bushfires Christmas Appeal.”

Mr Tunbridge and the Medowie Lions were humbled by the support of locals who showed their community spirit with bulk donations of much needed goods.
