Getting in early on book reading was the Medowie Girls’ Guide who took their love of books to a whole new level.
Not connected to the official Reading Hour, the Guides organised a sleepover at the Library.
Ms Elizabeth Keeley, Medowie District Manager, told News Of The Area, “It came about because we were looking for a fun and different location to take our Guides.”
“Girls were given an opportunity to explore the library and borrow books.”
Ms Keeley worked with Ms Donna Lloyd, Raymond Terrace Branch Librarian to make the event happen.
Ms Keeley said, “The joy on the girls’ faces as they explored the library, some for the first time, was wonderful.”
“Each Guide made their very own pillow to bring and use at the sleepover.”
“For many of the Guides this was their first time using a sewing machine and they loved every moment.”
This was the Medowie Guides second library sleepover and 32 Guides with 8 leaders attended this year.
The girls have dinner in the library, read books, play board games, watch a movie as part of the evening.
