Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au Countrywide Mobile Ultrasound services are now available in our smaller communities with services being delivered in Medowie, Lemon Tree Passage and Heddon Greta. The mobile service operates in Medowie every Thursday and they also operate in Tea Gardens, Lemon Tree Passage, East Maitland, Heddon Greta, Dungog, Mayfield, Lightning Ridge, Walgett and can even perform scans on home visits or in aged care facilities. The Medowie service was ready to open just before the COVID-19 lockdown and is now operating in Abundance Road. Victoria Baumann is a local sonographer who has over 20 years experience. She is excited about offering the service locally. Anyone can access the service with a referral – any referral for an ultrasound can be used at the clinic which makes accessing medical services much easier for locals. Dr Albert Gutmann has practiced Radiology for 40 years in the more remote areas of the world, initially in Africa, and for the last 13 years in numerous towns of the Far West of NSW, and South Australia, also working with NSW, and South Australian Health. He has lived and worked in these areas for 40 years. He knows intimately the health limitations imposed by distance, and the way it affects lives and communities. He is completely committed to bring City-quality Imaging to the more remote regions. The company has a single principle and philosophy, “Care for all as your own”. While Medowie is far from remote the way Lightning Ridge is, for many residents accessing ultrasound services has been almost as onerous. Now locals can access services just down the road and have confidence in their results. Results from scans performed are back with your doctor within 48 hours with urgent results being provided on a same day basis. Victoria Baumann told News Of The Area, “It is important that people know that they can access bulk billed services without having to travel to Newcastle, or Maitland.” The service is comprehensive offering obstetrics, vascular examinations, general examinations and even cortisone bursal injections on simple joints. You can find out more about the service on their Facebook page or book an appointment on 0408 659 572. By Marian SAMPSON
Hi there, my daughter is 12 and has glandular fever. The GP wanted an ultrasound on her neck while they are enlarged and I cannot get an appointment for her before a week. She is not contagious but very tired. Hoping I could get her scanned tomorrow with you. We live at 43 Brandy Hill Drive, Brandy Hill. Reply
