Medowie Football Club mourns loss of lifetime member Alan Morris Port Stephens by News Of The Area - Modern Media - July 21, 2021July 22, 2021 Alan Morris. MEDOWIE Football Club has been saddened by the loss of lifetime member Alan Morris. Alan, and his late wife Gail, moved to Medowie nearly 40 years ago when it was a lot smaller than today and you knew mostly everyone! Alan, along with his late wife Gail, had been involved with Medowie Football Club since the early 1980’s. There were several Medowie families back then who were always putting their hand up to help and the Morris family were one of them! Over the many, many years Alan was involved with the soccer club he not only coached his own children’s teams but he also found time to coach the all-age men and the women’s teams when no one else would. Alan held many positions on the Medowie Football Club committee including Treasurer and Secretary. Alan and his wife played a huge part in helping the soccer club at Yulong Oval grow and be a place for soccer players, both young and old, to come and enjoy their love of soccer while developing their skills and creating lifelong friendships. In 1988 Alan became a soccer referee and went on to become a lifetime member of Newcastle Referees Association. He has refereed at many levels including NPL games where he had to referee his youngest son Matt. On Saturday 10 July the Medowie FC Zone League teams and U16/1’s team, which Alan’s eldest Grandson plays in, wore black armbands and recognised a minutes silence in honour of Alan Morris. Another of Alan’s grandsons plays in the Medowie Fc u13/1 team and it’s great to see the love Alan had for soccer and the Medowie Football Club continue with them. Rest in peace Alan. By Steve WITHEY, Medowie FC, Vice President Medowie FC Zone League teams and U16/1’s team pay their respects to Alan.
