The AusMumpreneur awards are the most prestigious national awards of their type, presented to mothers who manage a successful business along with the role they play as a mother.

With a massive surge in the world of mums launching their own businesses and companies, this award is an enviable achievement for one of Port Stephens’ own entrepreneurs.

Kim Oakhill said she was thrilled to win in her category in the 2017 AusMumpreneur Awards against such a talented group of women.

“It was absolutely incredible to receive such a prestigious award.”

“I truly believe that Helpful Love has the potential to change lives and make our world a better place, and it was such a heartwarming moment to receive national recognition for a movement I am so deeply passionate about.”

The concept was created two years ago when Kim’s friend lost her three-year-old daughter.

Kim searched everywhere for a one-stop-shop of helpful, useful gift alternatives but couldn’t find one.

Helpful Love is a community and directory of handpicked vendors who offer alternative approaches to gift giving, delivering services with attention and care.

In tough times, it’s often hard to know how to provide support or show that we care.

Sending flowers is a lovely gesture, but sometimes, more practical support is needed – someone to take care of the laundry, clean the house, a comforting remedial massage or nourishing meals prepared and delivered to the door.

AusMumpreneur was created to support Australian entrepreneurs like Kim Oakhill and her fellow AusMumpreneur Award winners, Peace Mitchell, cofounder of AusMumpreneur said.

“These awards are all about recognising the growing number of mums who are achieving outstanding business success while balancing motherhood.”

“I was blown away by the entrepreneurial spirit of the award winners and am very confident that they will provide great inspiration for other mums considering starting their own business,” Peace said.

This is the eighth year the AusMumpreneur Awards have run, with the business mum community growing at lightning speed as mothers look for opportunities to join the ranks of small business owners in search of more flexibility, financial freedom and family time.

It is an impressive achievement for a local business women to have achieved this national award.
