Felicity Cocuzzoli was moved to contribute to raising awareness of Ovarian Cancer where here effervescent and infectiously happy sister, Annie, was herself diagnosed with this terrible disease.

Annie, a teacher at Tanilba Bay Public School, is currently on leave, and battling with strength and courage, supported by a mighty team around her.

Annie’s artist sister Felicity told News Of The Area, “Some days are life-changing, and not in a good way, sometimes a simple medical procedure brings to light that which has been hidden.”

“This happened recently to my beautiful sister, and she is is far from alone.”

The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation identifies that on average, one in four Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Australia every day.

Currently, the five year survival rate for Australian women with ovarian cancer is 43%.

In comparison, the five year survival rate for breast cancer is 90%.

Felicity said, “In an effort to make some sort of a difference I created her a picture for her, inspired by the ethereal photography of Rod Waddington.”

“Whilst drawing, my mind imagined the vast numbers of other women who were facing the fight of their lives; as well as those who love them, and those who have lost women they love, and the idea for raising funds for research from this image grew.”

Felicity asked Annie to name the artwork, and her immediate response was ‘Hope’.

‘Hope’ is for everyone who has been touched by women’s cancer, which strikes at the core of femininity; for women struggling through treatment and for those who love these women.

Each print has been reproduced on archival quality fine art paper, and costs less than a floral delivery.

Felicity’s goal is to raise $2000 in 12 months for Ovarian Cancer Australia, through the sale of fine art prints.

Felicity added a final message on Annie’s behalf, and told told News Of The Area, “Anne is passionate about sharing her experience to highlight the importance of women taking time to care for themselves.”

“We can never be too busy to get checked and take action if we have any concerns about our health.”

“If not for ourselves, we owe it to our partners, our children and all those who love us.”
