Masking is the task at hand: complying with Covid-19 restrictions

JUST when we thought we’d seen the last of face masks and physical distancing, restrictions have come roaring back into Port Stephens and the Myall Coast.

From 6pm Saturday 26 June, everyone must wear a mask whilst inside commercial premises such as shops, gyms, restaurants, cinemas and cafes, as well as outdoor sporting venues.

Masks may be removed for eating and drinking.

Exemptions are made for people living with mental health issues, intellectual disabilities or sensory processing issues.

Children under 12 years of age are not required to wear masks.

Masks should be worn over both the nose and the mouth, and not pushed down over the chin or up over the forehead.

A clean, dry mask should be worn.

Disposable masks should not be reused once worn.

Other restrictions that apply in NSW include a limit of five guests to any household including children.

Drinking whilst standing up is no longer allowed at indoor venues.

At places of worship and indoor venues, singing is not permitted by audiences, worshippers or choirs.

Only the bridal party is permitted to dance at weddings, restricted to 20 people only.

Dance and gym classes are limited to 20 participants per class, and masks must be worn during the class.

The one person per four square metres rule will apply to all indoor and outdoor settings, including weddings and funerals.

Outdoor seated, ticketed events such as concerts and sporting events will be limited to 50 per cent seated capacity.

Limit non-essential travel to Sydney.
