Man on kidnapping charges at Griffith National News by NOTA - January 21, 2015 A man is due to appear in Griffith Local Court today charged over an alleged kidnapping earlier this week. It was about 8am on Monday (19 January 2015) a 32-year-old man was found chained to a tree within the Cocoparra National Park near Yenda by a local farmer. Police from Griffith Local Area Command were called to the scene where the man had been released from the tree. Investigators from Strike Force Danderbong – that was established in early November 2014 to investigate public shootings in Griffith – commenced investigations into this incident and as a result a Crime Scene Warrant was executed at premises near Yenda and two search warrants being executed in the Griffith area about 4pm yesterday (Thursday 20 January 2015). As a result, a 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene of one of the search warrants about 4pm and taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated kidnapping between 17 and 19 January 2015. The man, from Griffith, was bail refused to appear at the Griffith Local Court today (Wednesday 21 January 2015). It will be alleged by police that this matter is drug related. Investigators believe other people may be involved in this incident and inquiries are continuing.
