Man, 32, charged with numerous offences at Swansea Lake Macquarie

A man has been arrested for numerous offences, including assaulting police, at Swansea Lake Macquarie yesterday.

About 6am, Tuesday 21 October, 2014, police attended a domestic related incident at Wallace Street, Swansea.

The man, who allegedly assaulted his partner before fleeing the area, was located by police about 3.20pm when they were called to Fernleigh Track, Belmont. It is alleged the man was yelling abuse at members of the public and allowed his dog to attack another dog.

Police arrived at the location and attempted to speak with the 32-year-old. He allegedly assaulted an officer before running into a nearby house.

Police entered the house and located the 32-year-old in an upstairs bedroom. Police attempted to arrest the man again and he allegedly resisted.

Police were able to subdue the man and he was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, breach of apprehended violence order, goods in custody, assault police, two counts of resist police, enter enclosed lands, offensive conduct and outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court Wednesday 22 October, 2014.

The owner of the dog that was attacked was treated by ambulance at the scene, suffering from shock. His dog was taken to a vet however only sustained minor injuries.

The 32-year-old’s dog was taken by Newcastle City Council Rangers.
