ORGANISERS of the Nambucca Valley’s iconic Volkswagen Spectacular, say the event will still take place in 2021.

The Spectacular will be held in Macksville between 24 October and 1 November.

Donna Pell said, “Those who had bookings need to email us and we will be happy to rollover bookings for the new period.”

The 2021 event will see the Spectacular coming up to its 37th year.

In 1987 Mark and Donna Pell owned a Volkswagen repairs and spare parts business in Nambucca Heads.

Mark thought it would be a great idea to organise a VW enthusiasts’ event on the Mid North Coast and it has been running ever since.

“The first event attracted 110 VWs from as far as Sydney and Brisbane,” Donna said.

In the early days the event was held every year, then in the late 90’s, when the organising every year became too much, the event was moved to every two years.

“It takes approximately 12 months to organise the show, as we do the accommodation bookings, the organising of the events, and sponsoring merchandise.”

The event is a boost to local businesses, and funds are raised for selected local charities throughout the event.

The week-long event opens at 5:00 pm Sunday 24 October at Macksville Showground with a free welcome BBQ dinner.

Monday 25 October starts with breakfast at 7:00 am run by Rotary/Lions.

There will be plenty to see and do over the week-long event.
