NSW Veterans Cricket is proud to announce that Macksville, Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Camden Haven, Kempsey and Tuncurry have been chosen to host the 2022 Over 65’s State Titles from Monday January 31 through to Thursday February 3.

Two Divisions, with eight teams in Division 1 and four teams in Division 2, will be battling out for the title of NSW Champions.

Coffs Harbour will play New England on January 31 at 9.30am at Phillip Hughes Oval, Macksville.

Teams from all over NSW will converge on Port Macquarie on Sunday 30 January for a meet and greet at Championship Headquarters in The Hastings Room, Westport Club, 25 Buller Street Port Macquarie.

A Championship dinner will be held on Tuesday 1 February at The Westport Club.

Organisers offered a big thank you to major sponsors the Westport Club, Hastings Sports Physio, Kingsgrove Sports Centre, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Kempsey Shire Council, Nambucca Valley Council and Veterans Cricket NSW.

The aim of Veterans Cricket is ‘A Sport for Life’.

It has a goal of providing opportunities for people to participate in the game of cricket for as long as they wish.

It promotes the social, physical and mental health benefits of staying involved in cricket.

It’s often described as ‘The Men’s Shed in the Field’.

It is currently one of the fastest (if not the fastest) growing senior sport in Australia with players of all ages participating, with some players over 80 still playing.

The significant growth in the veteran’s cricket over the last couple of years has seen the numbers swell so much in the 60’s that the Over 65’s State Championships has now been added to provide more opportunities for players to participate at a Championship level.
