Macksville Country Club Ladies Bowls Report

Photo: New Macksville ladies Carola, Carol Annie and Sheryl are enjoying their bowls. Absent from the photo is new member Heather.

OUR Macksville ladies entered a team in the Grade 3 pennants which was played late July and August.

A team consists of two sides of four players, with Ruth Flarrety, Kaye Wood, Gail Griffiths and Carol Turner on one side and Thelma Scott, Judy Walker, Karen Liddell and Janet Poletti on the other.

Elwyn Ainsworth was reserve, filling in for three games.

Barbara McBride was our fantastic manager.

As there were only four teams in our grade the season was played reasonably quickly. The first three games were played at home defeating Stuarts Point (45-24), Park Beach (47-35) ,and Woolgoolga 56-26.

Then in the return away game we beat Stuarts Point 32-27 in a very close game.

At Park Beach we went down 44-25 in very tricky windy conditions.

The last game at Woolgoolga was a must win to progress through to the regional play-offs, unfortunately just falling short 47-41.

Well done to our ladies.

We have had a number of new bowlers join us lately and they are enjoying playing each week.

New bowlers are welcome to join us on Wednesday Mornings at 8.30 am for a 9am start.

Our ladies will be holding a street stall down in the town on Thursday, December 1 outside the newsagent.
