Macksville Country Club Golf Results

SATURDAY’S Macksville Auto Wreckers sponsored single stableford was played in beautiful Spring weather and won by Simon Walker with a net 43 playing off a 15 handicap.

Runner Up David Maloney would have thought he had a winning score with a net 40, enough to lose a shot off his handicap but still miss the bickies.

Jake Simpson, who is playing consistent golf, was second runner up.

Playing off a 17 handicap Jo Montegue won the ladles stroke event on Tuesday from Rhonda McAuliffe who was runner up.

While Jo hasn’t been on the leaders board lately she knows how to hit a golf ball and often plays in the Saturday competition.

Neil Cunneen has been amongst the leaders so regularly of late he’ll soon be going up a grade. His net 41 won him the midweek competition.

Rod Curtis, Chairman and handicapper of the “chook run”, tells me Mick O’Brien won the Thursday nine hole event and Jeff Gore was the straight shooter with nearest to the pin.

What you can see pictured is Rod Curtis playing his second shot on the ninth with playing partner Greg Zirkler watching on.

Rod was unconvincing in saying his drive hit a tree and rebounded.

With the good numbers playing in the Saturday competition please book in a time slot – this enables new players to slot into smaller groups.

I would like to congratulate those involved with News Of The Area for their efforts in keeping locals informed.

Good work.
