Macksville Christmas Carols by Candlelight returns on 18 December

30-40 volunteers from the local Salvation Army Nambucca River Church volunteer to man the gates, set up and pack up the evening, and help the night run smoothly.

THE tradition of communal Christmas Carols in Macksville began 35 years ago when members of the local Salvation Army Nambucca River Church gathered with their guitars on a small grass patch near the Macksville Library.

They did a letterbox drop to invite any locals who wanted to gather and sing some carols.

This grew every year and now 4000 people across the Valley gather each year.

Outgrowing the small grass patch, the Macksville Park (football oval) now accommodates the size of the turnout.

Macksville Christmas Carols by Candlelight is the local Salvation Army’s way to say thank you to the community for their support throughout the year and spread Christmas cheer in the Valley.

This year’s event is on Sunday 18 December 2022, with carols starting at 7pm (gates open earlier).

While the event is free, the Salvo’s do ask for a donation at the entrance gate, with all money raised benefiting the community through the Salvo’s Welfare Program.

The night is jam packed full of live performances from local talent and kids Christmas activities, with quality food and coffee vendors for you to enjoy.

Performers include Dylan Hoskins, Di Coomes, St Pats Primary School, Graham Howle, Bluebird Support Disability Service, Sonia Francis, The Valley Line Dancers and Milli Mason.
