ON Sunday 20 February the LoggerHeads Malibu Club will kick off their 2022 season of long-boarding with a monthly points score comp at Scotts Head.

Like so many sporting clubs in the district the last two years under the effect of the pandemic have been tough for the LoggerHeads, with the Annual LoggerHeads Classic being cancelled for two consecutive years.

News Of The Area spoke to Barry Jagoe, President of the LoggerHeads Malibu Club, who said, “The Classic attracts hundreds of long-board surfers to the Mid North Coast each July and most of those who registered to surf in last year’s classic have maintained their place in this year’s event.”

When asked about the year ahead for the LoggerHeads Malibu Club Barry said, “We would like to see some new members of any ability come and join the club to enjoy surfing with like-minded folks of all ages.”

While the coveted Club Champion Award is hotly contested each year there are also surfers who really get out there just for fun or to improve their ability and fitness.

Barry added, “We always conclude our monthly club comp surf with a BBQ lunch and a few laughs.”

The Loggerheads Malibu Club meets at Scotts Head, in the car park near the Surf Club, on the third Sunday of each month at 7:45 am.
