During the last few years there has been a concerted push from people in major cities to move to regional areas to escape Covid, find a better lifestyle or live a simpler and more wholesome life; with the trend likely to continue post-pandemic.

The Great Lakes Food Trail, with support from sponsors NSW Local Land Services, MidCoast Council and the Bulahdelah Chamber of Commerce, have organised a long table dinner featuring a range of guest speakers who will discuss life on the farm, and provide tips for setting up farming enterprises in the region. “It is a great opportunity to hear from experts in the field and get tips for those who wish to venture into agricultural production,” event organiser Dale Bradshaw told News Of The Area.

The speakers on the night will provide practical tips on what to look for, how to get started in agriculture and tell their personal stories.

“If your questions are not answered on the night then you can submit them to the organisers, who will put you in touch with someone who can help,” said Mr Bradshaw. Dinner will be offered by renowned local chefs, Peter and Kerry Hodges from Tillermans Restaurant in Tea Gardens, using produce sourced locally from Great Lakes Food Trail members and served with local wine and beer.

The ‘So you want to live on a farm’ dinner is being held on 23 February in Bulahdelah.
