The Award recognises the IGA X-press store that has the most impressive retail performance including customer service, community contribution, department excellence, brand values, sales, profits, merchandising and shopper experience. It was a proud moment for co-owner Peter Trappel. “Over the last 14 months, the team has worked together to create a very high performing store in a short amount of time,” Peter said. With a small team of only three permanents and 10 casual staff, the Lovey’s Grocers IGA Hawks Nest was commended for providing a tailored shopping experience as an X-press store, to the Hawks Nest community. “They care about the work they do, their service to the community and their teammates,” Peter said. “We’re very proud of the team’s achievement, their hard work and dedication, and honoured to receive the award. “We would like to thank the community, many of our staff are locals, especially the younger team members, and our customers for their continued support.” Store Manager, Colleen Ross, said she was so surprised and thrilled the team was recognised. “It’s so surreal! I still can’t believe we’ve won,” Colleen said. “We work hard to streamline our processes and develop our staff, providing a great place to work and learn. Lovey’s Hawks Nest will now compete in the National IGA Awards of Excellence on the Gold Coast in July. By Margie TIERNEY
