Ability Links funded works to improve access to the park, including improved signage for accessible parking, wheelchair-friendly picnic seating, creating new pathway links and widening existing pathways for wheelchair access.

NSW Recreational Fishing Trust funded an extension of the existing wharf to provide more space for fishers and swimmers to coexist, as well as changing wooden decking to non-slip boards to improve safety.

Mayor Ryan Palmer says it’s a wonderful Christmas gift for the popular destination.

“Following on from the success of our Accessible Beach Day, it’s wonderful to be able to make Little Beach more accessible for our locals and visitors.”

“We want more people with disabilities, their families and their carers to be able to enjoy the beautiful beaches we have in Port Stephens.”

Mr Palmer said, “We’re also proposing to invest a further $1.4 million to improve access to Little Beach boat ramp from 2020, plus we’ll be replacing the amenities while we’re at it.”

“These are just some of the projects proposed under Council’s Special Rate Variation,” he said.
