Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au Fundraising activities continue, catching up after a challenging year, with the club now a NSW Government approved COVID safe business. This month the Club donated $500 to the local free Clinic Bus, a vital service for locals needing access to medical services and more funds are needed. Locals can support fundraising by buying their delicious Christmas Cakes now on sale at the Grange, Hugo’s Newsagency in Hawks Nest, Woody’s Garden Centre, or contact Leone on 0423 691 488 (EFTPOS available). A 1.5kg cake is $17 and the 1kg cake is $13 with proceeds going directly to local projects. Also look out for other great fundraisers, such as the Model Boat / BCF raffle (tickets online at https://www.rafflelink.com.au/supportlocallions), the Football Doubles (tickets sold at the Tea Gardens Country Club, Tea Gardens Hotel, Hawks Nest Golf Club and Benchmark on Booner), and buy a sausage at the next BBQ at Woody’s Garden Centre, on Saturday 14 November. The club also has a great range of local projects in train, including renewing the Pelican Parade, part of the inspiring Myall River Art Walk. This Pelican Parade project will provide local businesses and services with the opportunity to highlight and add to the whimsical pelican sculptures already in place above the Tea Gardens Police Station, Fire Station and Hugo’s Newsagency at Hawk Nest, while also supporting Lions. NOTA will provide updates on the pelicans as they appear in and around Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest. By Sandra MURRAY
