When the club held its carnival, the Coffs Harbour Pacific City Lions Club cooked all of the sausages and onions white it did the catering for the event.

Lions Club president Don Gordon said a $1,000 donation is the result from the exercise.

Money which is going to be spent purchasing a rescue board.

“The profit from it plus a bit extra is going to the surf life saving club so it can assist with whatever they need,” Mr Gordon said.

“They identified another board which we’re only too happy to help pay for.”

Presented on Sunday prior to another nippers session, junior chairman Dan Backhouse said the new board will be a welcome addition to the club’s rescue equipment.

“The boards generally last about four or five seasons so it’s a huge bonus to get a board,” Mr Backhouse said.

“The foamy boards are great for the kids too. They’re safe and very durable. They’re expensive for a reason.”

The Lions Club usually donates up to $13,000 a year to various charities and worthy causes.

Sometimes their donation is simply time when it completes activities such as laying concrete at the art gallery or putting in a birds home at an aged care facility.
