RISING stars and new recruits are laying the foundation for an exciting season of rugby league action for the Laurieton Hotel Stingrays. After a stretch of disappointing results post their 2022 Grand Final triumph, the Stingrays committee decided it was time to undergo a major overhaul. In the lead-up to the 2025 season, club representatives have embarked on an ambitious recruitment drive, securing the signatures of seven new players – Cuban Piper, Jayden Lack, Lachlan Ostler, Dale Donovan, Thomas Worton, Brady Blackhall and Chris “Bear” Scilinato. The new recruits have already bolstered the squad – lifting the attitude of the team and bringing a new level of energy and work ethic during pre-season training. Stingrays Co-Coach Trevor Campbell expressed quiet confidence in the revamped roster. “The Laurieton Hotel Stingrays is a great club and there’s huge local support,” Campbell said. “Our recruitment drive is aimed at complimenting the talent we already have in the team, while increasing its depth, ensuring the club’s success long-term. “We have recruited several players who are local talents. “These players have either grown up in the Camden Haven area or surrounding suburbs. “Our fans know them and have cheered them on during their junior years. “Our other new recruits are players who have experienced success. “They have been part of a winning team or successful club environment and are bringing that culture with them to the Rays. “We are looking forward to a great year.” By Kim AMBROSE Thomas Worton.
