LABOR Candidate for Lyne Peter Alley toured the southern end of the Electorate last week in his large red campaign bus filled with Labor supporters.

Visiting Karuah, Tea Gardens and Bulahdelah, Mr Alley and his team walked the streets meeting with locals and business owners.

Mr Alley said the communities were very welcoming with many locals taking the opportunity to discuss their concerns relating to Medicare and Education.

“People are very concerned that bulk billing will cease and are worried that they will pay more for pathologist tests, diagnostic imaging and filling scripts at the chemist,” Mr Alley said.

“We need a government that will stand and defend Medicare and only a Labor Government will ensure that.”

Mr Alley also said Education funding was a hot topic of conversation.

“A child in Bulahdelah or Tea Gardens deserves the same quality education as a child in North Sydney,” Mr Alley told News of the Area.

“Only a LaborGovernment will deliver the Gonski reforms for the full six years and beyond.”

Mr Alley said the Gonski reforms mean an extra $175 million in funding for the Lyne Electorate if Labor is elected.

“I’d like to see that money spent on Education in Lyne,” he said.

Mr Alley has been a regular visitor to the area and said he has enjoyed meeting with the people in the Myall Coast communities.
