The scholarship was awarded at the recent Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod. This was awarded to Kyara as a result of her dance performances judged for the whole week. She also won a scholarship at the Les Griffith Tap Dance Academy Eisteddfod worth $300. News Of The Area interviewed Kyara, who began dancing aged 2 years at the local Dance ‘n Dazzle Studio. Started off in Tiny Dazzlers by her mother who is the Principal of the Studio, Kyara said, “I just loved it.” “When I’m dancing I feel happy.” “No one can stop me, I’m doing my own thing.” “All my worries go away and I have a passion for dancing.” Kyara studies a range of dance types, including her favourite, tap, classical ballet, national character, jazz, hip hop, singing, contemporary, and acrobatics. “I competed over four days at Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod at Warners Bay and the scholarship was awarded for my performance overall the four days.” “The scholarship is a five-day Intensive Summer workshop at Brent Street in Sydney.” “I will get to study all types of dance from industry professionals with some of the best dancers in Australia.” When asked what the future looks like for the talented dancer, Kyara said, “I hope to complete my HSC where I currently go to school (HSPA) then study at Brent Street to complete a Certificate IV in Dance Performance and Teaching.” “After this, I hope to dance overseas or on a cruise ship.” “Eventually I would like to teach myself and am well on my way to being fully accredited as I have completed 12 LGTDA tap exams, 8 ATOD Jazz exams, 13 classical ballet and national character exams with the Australian Teachers of Dancing.” “I enjoy expressing myself with my dancing, performing on the stage and inspiring younger students to dance.” “I like seeing my hard work pay off with great results.” By Heather SHARP Kyara with her cabinet of dancing trophies recently won.
