WITH the Football season nearly over for another year, it’s nearing the time for our youngsters to get out the pads and knock the cobwebs off their Cricket bats.

The Karuah Tea Gardens District Cricket Club season is not far away, starting juniors and seniors in early October.

“Being a small Club, our focus is on developing the kids first and making sure they keep playing with us into future,” Secretary/Treasurer Colin McCarthy told News Of The Area.

‘’The Juniors will field teams from Under 10s to Under 16s in the Maitland Junior Competition,” Colin said.

“Numbers will govern the ages we enter, girls can play up to two years under their age, so if they are 14 as at 1st September they can play U13s or U14s.”

“Boys player ages are also 1st September, so if they are 12 they are eligible for U13s.”

Colin added, “Seniors will field two teams in the Dungog District Competition and you can play provided you are 12 years and over as at 1st September.”

“Last year both teams made the finals and we won one major title.”

“All teams have Level One qualified coaches and are there to help the kids and the older kids, as well.”

“All our coaches have ‘Working with Children Checks’ cleared.

The Club’s Facebook page ‘Karuah Tea Gardens District Cricket Club’ will have all the details of costs and how to register in the coming weeks along sign-up locations.

The Club is also holding a Family Fun Day Golf Day to open the season and raise funds for special projects on Sunday 16 September.
