The criminal marking system is basically based on DNA forensic evidence to help police along with CCTV to track and convict criminals that have committed a break in or armed holdup on any premise fitted with the device.

Karuah RSL Club manager Ross Parr, told Myall Coast News, “We are the first venue in Port Stephens to be fitted with security device aimed at deterring criminals from holding up venue’s fitted with the latest technology called ‘DNA Guardian’, and we are serious about keeping our patrons and staff safe.”

Each premise has its own DNA formula fitted with a water based substance, which sprays onto offenders skin, and is non removable for two months unless you exfoliate two layers of skin, meaning offenders walk around with the crime scene still on them for that period of time.

Jeff Murray from Security Solutions said, “This provides police with forensic evidence to place the criminal at the crime scene. The device has a one hundred percent conviction rate and it has reduced armed hold ups by ninety eight percent where fitted. Percentages are great, but in real terms if there’s two robberies in a year then that is one hundred percent. We have one thousand devices fitted so far and none of them have experienced an armed hold up in eighteen months.”

“The sterile saline water substance has two additives, one is a vegetable based fluorescent dye that glows under ultra violet light, and the other is a single transthetic DNA which is unique to each venue where devices are fitted, and DNA Guardian signs are visible,” Jeff said.
