Karuah RSL Men’s Bowls Club    

WITH the exception of very few playing days, wet weather has prevented play of most of the scheduled games at Karuah Bowls Club for the last two weeks.

A big roof may have allowed more play, but would stop the grass growing, so that’s simply not an option given the beautiful grass greens our club at Karuah is famous for.

The ever stoic Gordon Latimore, Club President, said, “It just makes the good days even better” and there were some very competitive games played on the days where there was a short break in the wet weather.

The Men’s Minor Singles Championship has progressed with some huge games played on slow greens.

Dave Benson was able to get and stay in front of Ben Taylor, While Dave Austin was able to defeat Peter Green.

In the Semi Final, Dave Benson then went on to defeat Dave Austin in a high quality game that changed leads a couple of times and will now go on to play Max Rosser in the Grand Final next Saturday at 1pm.

This game should be a cracker and seats are still available on the RSL verandah at the usual price (free!).

On a dry morning on Friday, the Ladies Triples Final was decided with Robyn Latimore, Kim Post and Lyn Cale ending up with the win over Marg Nolan, Pam Cembala and Sandie Lowndes in a high quality game, well played by all involved.

The Club junior development program continues with the green full of young players every Friday afternoon.

It’s great to see the next generation of players coming through, with some great potential being shown.

If you would like to have a roll on the best grass green on the mid coast, free beginner sessions are still available every Sunday morning.

Our Tuesday and Thursday morning social comps are (weather permitting) proving popular for locals and visitors alike, 9.30am names and 10.00am first bowls, it’s best to ring the RSL to confirm if weather is a doubt.  See you at Karuah.
