The beautiful banks of the Karuah River were the perfect setting for a fun-filled day, with the blue sky breaking through to provide perfect conditions for the event.

Festival organisers outdid themselves with a plethora of activities, offering something for everyone.

The children’s fishing competition was a hit, with lots of enjoyment by all entrants.

In particular, the youngest fisherman in the event had everyone smiling.

Young Mitch Reynolds took our fourth place with a beautiful 31cm bream, which won him a tackle box and ackleworld hat.

The duck race was a crowd favourite again this year, and the oyster eating competition was fiercely contested by seafood lovers united.

Timber choppers impressed the crowds with their strength, and car enthusiasts enjoyed the collection of classic cars.

Crowds feasted on a variety of hot food, ice creams, cake stalls, wine, cheese and oysters and the good old aussie sausage sizzle.

Thousands of locals and tourists enjoyed the best Karuah had to offer on this special weekend that is gaining in popularity every year.

One attendee, Ryan Beehan came with his family for the weekend from the central coast, after seeing the posters advertised on a trip up the coast last month to see family.

“We took the opportunity to book a van at the Big 4, and made a weekend of it.”

“We were surprised by the shuttle service this morning too, so that made our weekend even easier to get around and enjoy the festival,”

“It’s been a great weekend, and something we’d like to continue to come back for.”
