Junior Hawks’ have mixed results home and away on 27 May

The U-10s #11 rounds in for his try in the first half.

JUNIOR Hawks Rugby League teams returned some very promising results from both home and away games on Saturday, 27 May.

Playing away, the Under-12s team scored a blistering victory of 44 to 4, walloping Wangi by a factor of eleven-fold.

Game highlights included an astounding effort by Alex Saunders, who scored three tries and successfully made six conversion kicks – some kind of record, perhaps?

The massive scoreboard difference was made possible with the equally amazing efforts of Kysaiah Sims’ try, as well as two important assists on other scoring opportunities.

Noah Fidden scored two tries, and Kieran Nean scored one try, with another (eighth) try pumping up the team’s score.

Playing at home on Myall Park, the Under-10s had a similarly energetic experience, with a score so close to victory that another few minutes on the clock may have made the difference.

The boys and girls got a late start, but the tries came thick and fast on both sides, as they played their hearts out against Wallsend-Maryland Tigers.

Almost every play following one team’s try resulted in a try for the other, with the Hawks leading at half-time 18-14.

After 40 minutes of youthful fun and fury, it was a good clean game, marred only by one errant fist in the last few minutes.

Tries were awarded to the groundings by #11, #4 (three tries), and #1, while #3 and #4 made successful conversion kicks, not to mention the brave runs at and around opponents’ lines in all the set-ups, proving the scoreline was a team effort for all the kids.
