JOSHUA Fairhall has been announced as the United Australia Party candidate for the Federal seat of Cowper.

38-years-old and married with three kids, Joshua hails from the Nambucca Valley and has recently moved to Kempsey from Bowraville.

Joshua shared with News Of The Area a glimpse of his background and the reasons why he’s standing for Cowper in the upcoming election.

“I’m a business owner and I own Bi-Rite Home Appliances West Kempsey, Gloucester and Kempsey Discount Furniture,” Joshua told NOTA.

“I’m not a career politician, just a retailer that’s sick of the lies and BS from the current Government.

“I truly feel that there needs to be more people from business in Government, and not career politicians who have no idea what’s happening in the real world,” Joshua said.

Joshua said he joined the UAP as the candidate for Cowper to focus on four things, the first being ending mandates.

“Ending the mandates and getting our emergency service workers, who sacrificed their jobs to stand their ground, back into their jobs.

“It’s proven that vaccinations don’t stop transmission so why stop people from working now?

“It’s well known how much pressure the system is in at the moment because of some tunnel-minded state politicians who care for nothing more than control and their agendas.

“I also believe there needs to be a Royal Commission into the whole pandemic and have legislation introduced to prevent any segregation in our society again.

“That will happen under a UAP Government.

“I plan on being someone who will stand up and fight for Cowper, not just roll over and let it be, which is what we have seen with both our State and Federal representatives,” Joshua said.

The second focus, if elected, according to Joshua, is minimizing national debt.

“Is everyone aware just how much we as a nation are in debt by?

“We owe over a trillion dollars.

“At the moment that equates to approx $10,000,000 (ten million dollars) a day in interest.

“The UAP has a plan to lower the debt term from approx 280 years and have this trillion dollar debt paid in approx 20 years.

“Details announced April 7.”

Joshua’s third focus area is manufacturing.

“I am a very strong believer that we need to immediately reignite manufacturing in Australia.

“We have become a nation dependent on importing and now is the perfect time for Australian companies to investigate changing to a manufacturing model.

“The cost of international freight and the increasing costs of materials (some which originate from Australia and are then re-imported) is pushing the costs up and up.

“Manufacturing is the cornerstone of our nation and over the last few decades we can see that as manufacturing winds back our economy starts getting out of control.

“The UAP wants manufacturing in Australia again.”

Finally, Joshua said he hopes to improve conditions for Copwer’s elderly, sick and disabled.

“I am very passionate about pushing for a complete overhaul of the Aged Care system because I know there are areas within the sector that are failing.

“I have seen it with my own eyes.”

Overall, Joshua said he wanted to stress to people: “Make your vote count”.

“I am hoping the people in my community will give me a chance, and I am asking you to please think about the future of your Australia.

“We are at a pivotal moment in our life, our country and our world.

“This election is the most important in securing some sort of hope for the generations to come.

“If you think Australia needs to change, please vote for the UAP.”
