John Wright Park Tuncurry fig tree loses large limb FEATURED Forster, Tuncurry by News Of The Area - Modern Media - August 8, 2016 The scene on Monday morning at John Wright Park when a 45 year old fig tree lost one of its main limbs. DURING the stillness last Sunday evening 31 July, a beautiful old fig tree that was planted in the 1970s in Tuncurry’s John Wright Park dropped a large limb. MidCoast Council’s Tree Management Officer inspected the tree this week and the news was bad. “Unfortunately the limb was a ‘main leader’ which means that the fig tree was left structurally unsound” said Council’s Manager of Parks and Recreation, Mr Andrew Staniland. “The remaining ‘leaders’ already showed early signs of the same damage that caused the first limb to fall and so we have been forced to remove the fig tree for safety reasons” said Mr Staniland.
