Where were all the big guns?

19 August: The perfect conditions continued for the Open Jackpot Pairs with 25 bowlers taking part.

Winners for the day were decided on 4 points for a win plus ends won.

Players welcomed Jeff Crook from Bayswater BC in Victoria and Mick Parker from Ryde Ex-Services BC.

Gary Wynne and Stewart Sturrock fitted the winning formula nicely for a win.

They finished ahead of Bruce Everrit and Vic Garlick who filled second place.

All eyes were on the jackpot draw as the pot had reached a very tempting $460.00.

Legs eleven came out which just happened to correspond with the winning margin of the team of Tom Parkinson and visitor Mick Parker.

The jackpot was won! Congratulations to the two winners.

There will be no Open Jackpot pairs next week, 26 August as the Peet-Kay bowlers from Tasmania will be taking on a team from Tea Gardens.

Thirty-two bowlers will be needed to mount a challenge.

The order of play will be 21 ends of Fours.

22 August: Cooler conditions greeted the 28 Sunday Introduction to Bowls players today but conditions were well-nigh perfect.

Welcome back to Jean and Col Glover and a visitor from Bribie Island, Trevor Bell, was also made welcome.

The winners with highest score were; Dean Harsh, Monty, Luke Gliwa and Stu Sturrock.

The lucky losers were Jean Glover, Dot Monty, Lon Richards and Dorothy Thompson.

It should be noted that intending bowlers can have their first game free of charge to see if they like the experience.

In coming events the popular RSL LifeCare Mixed pairs will be contested over the weekend, 10 and 11 September to be followed by the annual Dolphin Day on Saturday 17 September.

Two dates not to be missed.

Congratulations to Neil Kibble for winning his first two sectional matches in the Mattara Restricted Singles. Neil made the semi-finals and unfortunately lost that match.

A great effort Neil!
